Ems Maritime Offshore and Northland Power Europe have signed charter contract until 2026

EMS MARITIME OFFSHORE AND NORTHLAND

EMDEN – Northland Power Europe GmbH, the operator of the “Nordsee One” and “Northland Deutsche Bucht“ offshore wind farms, has chartered the wind farm service vessel “WINDEA six” from the service provider Ems Maritime Offshore GmbH (EMO) for a further five years. “The extension of the charter contract for the WINDEA six is the result of our outstanding teamwork over the last few years. As local service providers, we are very proud to be able to continue our cooperation with the team from Northland Power”, explained Jan Heyenga, authorised signatory and Head of Maritime Services at EMO.

Northland Power has relied on the comprehensive scope of performance and service vessels from EMO since 2016. The company initially chartered the crew transfer vessel “WINDEA four”, and since 2018 also its sister vessel, the “WINDEA six”, in order to transport service technicians and freight to the offshore wind farm “Nordsee One”, which lies 40 km north of the Island of Juist. The ships were developed especially for applications in offshore wind farms and have proven extremely successful. According to the current contract, both crew transfer vessels (CTVs) have been commissioned by Northland Power Europe until 2026 for services from Norddeich.

“Professionalism, reliability and top service – we are very much looking forward to building on our successful partnership with EMO through our positive business expansion. With Northland’s focus on offshore wind and our growth in Europe, we place particular value on positive partnerships. We will continue to rely on this partner who has already faithfully supported us for several years now in the comprehensive management of the wind farm Nordsee One by Northland Power”, emphasised Florian Würtz, Managing Director of Northland Power Europe GmbH.

The catamaran “WINDEA six” is 27.5 metres long and equipped with a hydrojet propulsion system. This service vessel is ideally adapted for conditions on the German Wadden Sea, and can reach a speed of up to 32 knots. It is capable of transporting 24 technicians and 30 tonnes of freight.
