WINDEA CTV announces the successful conversion of “Gateway Endeavor” for expanded role in offshore wind

NEW YORK – WINDEA CTV LLC, a joint venture comprised of MidOcean Wind LLC, Hornblower Group, today announced the successful conversion and sea trial of offshore supply vessel “Gateway Endeavor” for use in a variety of Offshore Wind (OSW), Crew Transfer Vessel (CTV), and similar operational roles. The “Gateway Endeavor” will supplement WINDEA CTV LLC’s fleet of 5 newbuild 30m catamaran CTVs which will start to be delivered this summer.

For deployment serving OSW operations, “Gateway Endeavor” was converted in Bridgeport, CT by Hornblower Marine. Complex updates to the vessel were required for immediate operations as a CTV and similar roles capable of transporting crew, equipment, fuel and supplies. These include a bow platform, forward and aft fendering systems, bow thruster, digital throttle controls, a new electrical system, removable railings, and additional seating for use in CTV operations.

“The successful conversion of ‘Gateway Endeavor’ by our team at Hornblower Marine is another milestone in the future of OSW across the east coast as WINDEA CTV finds innovative solutions to ensure the successful expansion of offshore wind in the United States’ emerging market,” said Timothy O’Brien, Senior Vice President at Hornblower Group. “This vessel offers a variety OSW operational uses carrying both crew and equipment, allowing the industry to meet current needs while new-build construction is underway.”

“Gateway Endeavor” is 125 ft. in length, 25 ft. in breadth, and will travel at a cruising speed of 10.0 knots and a maximum speed of 19.0 knots. The vessel’s deck area is 16 ft x 40 ft (640 ft²) with a 30 ton deck load rating. Accommodations onboard now include three climate-controlled staterooms certified for 36 PAC capacity.

The Gateway Endeavor will be operated by Seaward Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Hornblower Group. It will initially serve as a frontrunner in Windea CTV’s role operating and providing CTVs for Vineyard Wind 1 in Massachusetts. It is available for charter in late 2023 and throughout 2024.
